Dr Hugo Gower, MB BS, DCH (University of Adelaide), FRACGP.
Dr Gower grew up in a medical family. He began working in his father’s GP practice when he was 8 years old. He worked in a pathology company whilst completing medical training at the University of Adelaide. He underwent an indigenous elective in Port Augusta and a paediatric elective in Seattle, USA . Intern year at Royal Adelaide hospital was followed by a few years at the women’s and children’s hospital in Adelaide and a few years working in paediatrics in London at a number of highly recognised hospitals. He helped set up one of the first paediatric ambulatory units in the world. On return to Australia he worked in Alice Springs and Darwin working in both the fields of paediatrics and emergency medicine. He has been involved in many medical retrievals and was involved in helping to set up the paediatric emergency department at the royal Darwin hospital. On moving to Brisbane he spent a year working at the Ipswich general hospital in paediatrics before completing his fellowship in general practice.
In his spare time he loves spending time with his wife Amy and two children Tom and Chloe. Dr Gower also loves all codes of football, fishing and camping.
Dr Gower’s medical interests include paediatrics, neonatal care, indigenous health, men’s health and emergency medicine.
