The MyMedicare program

Did you know that seeing the same GP regularly can lead to better health outcomes?

The Australian Government’s MyMedicare program is designed to strengthen the bond between you, your GP and your preferred primary care team.

If you hold a valid Medicare or Department of Veterans’ Affairs Veteran card and have been to see us in person twice over the last 24 months, you’re eligible to register in MyMedicare.

Registration is voluntary. You can begin your registration online through Medicare Online through MyGov or we can start the process for you at your next appointment. For more information, chat to a Receptionist at your next appointment, or visit health.gov.au/mymedicare

If you have registered at another practice with MyMedicare, please be aware that you can only have chronic condition management care plans done at the practice you have registered with.

If you wish to change to our practice, please to Medicare Online through MyGov or ask a Receptionist for a paper form to request the change.

Registering with MyMedicare at a practice gives you access to higher Medicare rebate for long telehealth consultations with those doctors who offer longer telehealths.

For those patients who are bulk-billed, registering with MyMedicare will also make you eligible in the near future to give formal consent to allow your doctor to bulk-bill you. Under the current “Assigment of Benefit” requirements, patients who are bulk-billed need to click “Yes” or “Ok” on the EFTPOS machine to give formal consent for Medicare to pay their doctor directly. In the near future, patients registered with MyMedicare will be able to complete a form to give consent for this “assigment of benefit” so that they will not have to click on the EFTPOS machine after each consultation.
